Sasser Construction is proud to celebrate International Women’s Day this week by highlighting the important contributions that our women employees make each and every day in building new homes for our customers.
“We’re committed to creating a workplace culture that empowers women in the construction industry and celebrates their contributions”, says Sasser Construction President, Eric Sasser.
“Our female builders bring an unparalleled work ethic and dedication to each project, and it’s evident in the exceptional quality of our homes. I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact that having women on our team has had on our clients’ experiences.”
Kelly Melton is the Operations Manager and handles of estimating, procurement and warranty issues for Sasser Construction. “I believe that the future of women is full of possibility and promise, and I’m excited to be part of that journey”.
Morgan Williams, Kelly Melton, and Abby Brown
Abby Brown is one of our three Superintendent Project Managers. Abby says, “As a young woman in construction, I am constantly learning and growing, and very passionate about building homes that families can enjoy for generations. As more and more women enter the field, we are breaking down stereotypes and paving the way for the future.”
“I believe that a diverse team is key to success in any industry, and that includes having women on construction sites”, says Morgan Williams, a valuable member of the Sasser team. “Building a home is a true collaboration, and I am grateful to work with such talented and hardworking individuals.”
The number of women in construction has hit an all-time high, reports the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) in December of 2022. According to the bureau’s data, the percentage of women in the industry has steadily risen since 2016, with 14% of all construction workers now women.
In October of 2022, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo reported that about one million women are working in the construction industry. The Secretary also made a prediction- “I’m here to tell you that together we are going to double that over the next decade to create opportunity for another million women.”
Sasser Construction salutes Kelly Melton. Abby Brown, and Morgan Williams. Eric Sasser also would like to recognize and thank Sandra Figeac, who recently retired in 2022 after 30 years of excellent service and dedication with Sasser Construction.
